The only American golf course employing girls as caddies is the claim made by Redwood Empire resident for the new municipal course at Healdsburg, Calif. The course is named in honor of Col. Charles E. Tayman, former Army officer, and here are the feminine caddies. Left to right, Muriel Hammersberg, Dorothy Pryor, Harriett Silgle [Silzle], Mary K. Amesberg, Joyce Brookins and Evelyn Penry.
Did you know that the North Bay Women’s Golf Association has been active since at least October 1933? At a tournament held at Marin Country Club, Mrs. Henry LeBaron and Mrs. Russell Stevens represented the Healdsburg Women’s Golf Club. Miss Marie Mothorn claimed the prize for low net in Class C at a tournament held in February 1934 at Petaluma CC. In May of 1934 Healdsburg WGC was represented by Mrs. Russell Stevens, Mrs. Fred Young and Mrs. E. I. Beeson, Jr. at Santa Rosa CC.
